Initiatives
New ways to solve problems.
Over the last several years, United Way of Greater St. Joseph has increasingly come to serve as a catalyst for community action to address emerging needs. Among the issues tackled are: training and sustaining an effective volunteer base; reducing the high-school dropout rate; helping children to enter school healthy and ready to learn; establishing a multi-agency method for assisting clients in cases of extreme need; and supporting projects that meet the healthcare needs of low-income clients. These initiatives have produced such positive results (information on each initiative can be accessed at left) by making the most of collaborative efforts and developing creative approaches.
